Voluntary Registration Benefits

While copyright in Russia arises automatically, voluntary registration with Rospatent or through notarial deposit provides:

• Official evidence of authorship and creation date

• Protection against claims of independent creation

Software & Database Registration

Computer programs and databases can be officially registered with Rospatent's register of software and databases. This provides a public record of ownership and significantly strengthens enforcement rights. The registration is valid for the life of the author plus 70 years.

Integrated Circuit Topology

Topology of integrated circuits receives sui generis protection under Russian law for 10 years from the date of first use or registration, whichever comes first. We handle the preparation and filing of registration applications with Rospatent.

International Copyright

Russia is a signatory to the Berne Convention and the TRIPS Agreement, meaning Russian copyright is automatically recognised in over 180 countries. We advise on cross-border copyright enforcement and international licensing strategies.
